Remicade and Benedryl

Some time ago I posted a note about how 50mg of Benedryl prior to my infusion knocked me on my butt! So, I went in yesterday for infusion #6 and told the nurse on duty about the horrible effect the Benedryl had on me.
She asked me if it would be ok with me if she changed things around a bit and, as it sounded reasonable, I agreed.
She diluted 25mg of Benedryl with 25cc of saline and injected it over 3 minutes or so. I had a BRIEF sensation of dizziness and that was it!!! It has now been 18 hours since the infusion and I have had no problems

Perhaps any one else who has too much of a Benedryl reaction could use this hint.

Remicade has been a bit of a disappointment to me, with maybe 50% of the improvement that we had hoped for. My Dr. Has added Azathioprine to my daily pills in hopes that it will boost the response. Anybody else on this regimen?

Summer is here in Oregon! We had about two days of spring, hope everyone is having some nicer weather!

I am also on remicade and azathioprine. I have been on remicade for 6 1/2 years. I was on imuran also when I started remicade, and then went off of it when all the hype came out a few years ago about being on both. Then went back on it last fall.

Thanks for the info everyone. It's always good to know what to expect, especially the time frame these meds need to work.
