I have been successfully keeping my crohn's at bay through diet - avoiding the food intolerances I discovered - all cow's milk products, rice wine vinegar (a wierd one!), apples and bananas. Although I've had the disease almost 25 years, the last 10 have been great because I learned about
how to adjust my diet to avoid flare-ups. For me, it's worked remarkably well.
about five days ago, I had a bad case of diarrhea but otherwise, felt fine in the morning. A few hours later after going to work, I began to have more diarrhea, followed by slight dizziness, aches, chills and thought I had a mild fever. I know how I react when I eat the wrong foods so I didn't think it was my crohn's, I thought it was the usual stomach bug.
Later on that day, I began sweating a little and ate a normal dinner. Four hours later, the diarrhea, aches and pains came back with a vengeance. I even had the sweats that night. Finally, at the end of my second day, I felt "normal" but still had diarrhea. I could eat my usual foods, felt energetic, even exercized, but everything was going right through me.
Now it's day 5 and I'm still runnin' to the bathroom only this time, it's about four to five hours after I eat. I woke up last night with diarrhea and had it again this morning. I'm drinking tons of water to avoid dehydration but am wondering if the virus I had caused a flare-up. If so, I haven't had a flare-up in years! I forgot what it was like.
So my question is: did I have a virus and the crohn's flare-up came after or is this just a virus that is going to take time to go away because of my disease? Or...is it just my "crohnie" coming back after a long vacation to visit me. I've lost 6 pounds already and it's scaring me.
Thanks in advance for the advice! Happy 4th!
