Dear Forum,
I come back to you with questions everytime there is a new development in my life.
I am a CD patience that DOES NOT have symptoms (except gases periodically), and want to keep it that way if at all possible.
I was originally diagnosed October 2010 (colonoscopy followed by capsule endoscopy and blood tests, etc.), and only 3 months ago after I finishe the tests and much research I started taking Budeson. This medication has gone very well, no side symptoms at all. I just visited the doctor again and was adviced two paths: continue up to a full year with Budeson, as she said that this medication is not effective past 12 months and then start taking azathioprine; or start taking azathioprine now. Her opinion is to begin azathioprine now.
My questions to the forum are:
1. Based on your experience, any comments on the doctor's recommendations.
2. Has anyone taken azathioprine, and what is your experience.
3. I would love to not have to take any medication, but the doctor warn me that it is not prudent. Is anyone not taking medication or doing some alternative medicine things? Is it so tempting considering that I am asymptotic.
By the way, my kidneys are borderline, thus some of the other options have been eliminated.
I appreciate your input.
Erwin
