Prednisone Vs Entecort

I hate Prednisone, in a terrible flare and have filled it but refuse to take it. Is Entecort any better?

Less side-effects, but slightly less effective than Pred.

I loathe prednisone but have been on entecort on and off for as couple of years - 6 mg since Feb - and it keeps me in remission with no side effects. Downside is it is expensive if you can't get funding but well worth a try in my book. I will never take pred again!

I am allergic to entecort, so it didn't work for me. From all accounts it is best for small intestine stuff. My worst Crohn's is in the last 2 inches of my large intestines so prednisone is the one that worked for me. Sorry! I think it is at least worth a try of the entocort. Good luck.

Entocort worked really well for me for a few years. Eventually the disease outgrew it and I had to move onto stronger meds, but it's definitely worth a shot. I had absolutely no side effects at all on it. If I could have stayed on it forever, I would have!

Might as well post again to say that I've been on both Pred and Entocort, and felt that Pred worked better - but only initially. Once I started reducing Pred, the symptoms came back. Either which way, neither steroid did a whole lot for me. I was lucky not to get horrible side-effects, esp. with the Pred, but I didn't feel miles better either.

My disease is throughout the the colon and the last part of the terminal ileum, FWIW.

Thank-you so much for your posts. When I take prednisone I am trading one set of horrible symptoms for another. I want to try Entecort, I will call the doc Monday. I appreciate your answers.
