Has anyone with Chrones Disease or UC have ever had anything wrong with their eyes?

Hi, I am 23 years old and I have had Chrones for about 7 years now. Just recently I have had huge bumps on my legs that made my legs swell up so big that I could hardly walk around and my eyes have started to affect me also. My eyes feel like they have so much pressure on them that they feel like they are going to pop out of my head. Has anyone ever expierienced this before and if so, what the doctors did to help you?

Heya, Never had bumps on my legs, except as side affects from prednisone....

as for the eye thing, yeah, inflamed eyes can be part of it, as well as constant watering of one or both eyes, I think I made a mention of this long ago in a previous post, if not I should have.

Your eyes are open battle grounds for crohns as is any other soft tissue in your body, such is the life with an AI disease.

I know it is a strange thing to say, but it make s me feel better, when I see it said.....Your not alone :)

Bilateral uveitis. Prednisone and dilating eyedrops.

Please, go and see an eye doctor. Crohn's disease also brings inflammation to the eyes. Regarding the bumps on your leg, look up the symptoms for erythema nodosum, it can be also related to CD.

I have had experience with both of these symptoms. I actually started having uveitis (inflammation of the eyes) before I was diagnosed with Crohn's. It was horrible. My eyes were RED - and I began losing my vision - very scary stuff!! Go to the opthamologist ASAP!! I took steroid drops in my eyes for over a year and a half, dilating drops, injections in the eye. Also had trouble with my eye pressure - and there were drops for that, too.

The other symptom you are describing is erythemea nodosum, which I also get during a major Crohn's flare up. (big red bumps on my lower legs, swelling and pain) Mine went away after I was taking the prednisone.

Clearly there is inflammation in your body - and it is presenting itself "externally" instead of just internally, as in CD.

Another weird one I had was the mouth ulcers, (cold sores) during a bad CD flare. So many in my throat that I couldn't swallow.

Sorry that you have to deal with all of this. NO FUN!!

Hi there,
oddly enough my eyes would water quite profusely for over a two year period before i was diagnosed with CD....it would happen sporadically and i put it down to cold weather etc. Lately though one eye feels quite dry at times and also i've woken up with my eyes feeling (but not looking) puffy...

Yes. My eyes were so inflamed during my last flare that the whites of my eyes looked like they were covered with red dye.

I worked in casino for 5 yr's as a tablegames dealer, I use to get pink eye 1-2 times a year. my flares(big ones) are in my esoph. throat, mouth and tongue. I get cankers in mouth, and then my taste buds get super inflammed. pred. is the only short term drug to get it down, then bio-logics is the only long term drug that keeps it down. rem. almost made me have resection, immuran has worked wonders, for my throat, asacol has helped gut at antasmosis site. I was in remission, until I was rear ended when parked in emergency pullout, the woman driving hit me at 65mph. so much for remission, I went into flare within 7 days, and it went right to my esoph. throat, cankers. then I got that calmed down and then arthritis started in and it is migrating all over. shoulders, hands, wrists. it was in my feet for awhile. I was so happy to find remission, only to get whacked by car, trauma causes me flares, not so much stress, I was horse jockey for 18 yr's. super stressful, but that never bothered me, now I'm artist, and that is strssful, because of sales can be slow, and right now with this dsebt thing, alot of people are waiting to see what happens before they start spending on discressinairy items, I make willow furniture, and garden structures, so my clients are all rich or have high income. and they're waiting. I can tell by my website that as soon as government gets this ironed out they will spend my way soon, I'm getting way to many visits on my site.
I use steroid drops, works wonders

I just had cataract surgery about 3-4 weeks ago. The doc said it was because of the steroids I used over the years. Will have the other eye done, once I recover from my current hospitalization. Hugs!

uveitis and cataracts from steroids.. steroid drops for the uveitis..

yours sounds more like glaucoma... see a dr.
