Last Of the Steriods, entering a new chapter, YEA!!

I was diagnosed about 18 months ago. The doc said I had a moderate case, about a 6 with 10 being worst case.   Since then I have been on a bunch of different steroids and meds for CD, peripheral neuropathy and eczema. I most certainly never had this DD nearly as bad as many here, but at one point I was so fed up I asked the doc for a handicap sticker. Many days I could barely walk into a store. I started doing SCD about 18 months ago and got really serious about it 10 months ago.   In any case, today I took my last dose of prednisone. I am only taking 3 x 500 of Pentassa and some supplements. Last time I went to the doc she said my blood work was “fantastic”. I rode my bicycle about 90 miles this weekend and loved it. My weight went from 190 to 150 and I really like this weight on me. I could go on but you get the picture. I am posting this to give encouragement to those who need it and can relate.   I am not silly and I do realize that this could change, but there are lots of new folks on this site (like me 18 months ago) that might read some of the serious challenges that some face and this can be very scary. I am not posting this because I want congratulations. I am posting this to let them know that for some, this DD can be beaten back and your health can return. One last comment for newbies, there is no single answer for all, but I would encourage you to keep looking even if it seems tough up front, because if you are lucky, then you can find something that works.   I spent lots of time this weekend thanking god and praying for my friends here that they find health and strength.   Dave

So glad things have stabilized for your dave!!!!  I know what you mean about sharing good news.  In support groups I make sure to let the new folks know I am 20 years post rupture and have had limited hits of pred and just on maintenance Pentasa for years.  It is great when things go well and I am glad you are sharing the good news.
