I swear, I'm not having anymore surgeries, I'm not (stomping my feet, gently). Another
open one, NG tube
down for 4 days, even after lots of begging, they wouldn't remove it, even though every time I moved it created
a gag reflex, like one nurse said, I thought they used them to eliminate vomiting.
My potassium dropped down bad enough to have a couple of infusions, and man does that burn.... And the waiting,
for ice chips, something to stop me vomiting, anything and everything I had to wait for, not just me, but my poor room partner.
Well I guess it's all over now bar the shouting, but this is going to to take awhile to erase from my mind. I guess poor
old Nanners and I hit it at the wrong time... Hopefully things will start going up from here. (Fingers crossed)
My love to you all x

I'm sorry you had what sounds like a truly ghastly experience. Take care of yourself sweetie and make sure to recuperate fully! My thoughts are with you and I'm hoping for some good remission days to come your way asap.

the good old NG, my life wouldn't be the same without experiencing that baby, swallowed many with just gulping down water and the ng tube, that darn thing saved my life many times. ah yes, ice chips, my favorite meal with ng. anyway glad your home vicky, my prayers helped, I hope. my personal best is 30 days with ng. has to be record. my favorite meal was ice chips with my dessert being pain shot. I just wanted to sleep right thru the whole thing, wake me when it's time to remove tube

I hope this brings you a long remission. Rest lots and get your strength back. Try not to think about
your stay too much. Focus on tomorrow and the next day and the next day.

My oh my I am glad that both you and Gail are home. Please both stay that way and both of you need to rest and get better! Those are orders.
The last time I was in in May I had to have an NG tube. Oh how I forgot how miserable those things are. But memories are wonderful things, we tend to forget the truly bad things, if we didn't the human race would have died out long ago because no one would ever go through labor again!

Glad your home and you can get some rest. Thats the ticket to feeling better . I think that lack of rest is responsible for a lot of our troubles. Hope you heal well , have no more problems and never need another stitch. Soft hug {{{{Vicky}}}}

I know what you mean about
the NG tube -- YUK! Mine didn't stop vomiting either, but then I get hellacious nausea post surgery.
Rest, take care of yourself and get back on your feet soon.

(((Vicky))) I think I surprised the docs when they asked if I wanted a NG tube, and I said yes. Yes, they are miserable, but for me they help more than hurt. It seems AG and I know when to cry uncle:)
I am glad you are on the healing side of surgery. I wonder if this surgery made you feel like the thought of it did me. I got so sad. I think that I had convinced myself that my Crohns was not going to bother me anymore, then bam I am back in the hospital. Thank God in my case it didn't end with surgery, and God willing I won't need it anytime in the near future.
I hope once you get past all this pain and discomfort, that you finally start feeling much better. Hugs!

Gail, the surgeon told me before surgery that I would have a NG tube down for 24 hours. Two days later,
when I was pleading with him to take (the too big) tube out, and reminded him what he said. All he could do,
was say yes that's what he did say, but sometimes he lies :(. I'm not usually such a baby, but no matter
how they positioned the darn thing, it still made me gag every time I moved. Turns out, it was a little on the
large size for a little 5' women. Go figure!!
Pain is still an issue, but less of one. My appetite is slightly better too, but baby steps!!.
Praying you won't have to have surgery. Thinking of you, as always, xx

So glad to hear you are back home again. I want to wish you a quick recovery, but I also want to hear you gently advancing to "normal". Take it easy and hoping for a long post surgical remission.

Hey Roni, I found you via a 2008 question you asked about
prednisone and Imurant and pregnancy tests. Whatever happened with you back then?
I am currently on Imuran and prednisione. I feel pregnant but don't know if it's the drugs or pregnancy. Or it maybe the drugs interfere with pregnancy tests? Do you have experience with this? Thank you!

Thats my big issue too Vicky. I am pretty fatigued. Hubby forced me to get dressed yesterday and go with him while he went to the bank and few errands. I just pretty much waited in the truck, but did force myself to walk about
a bit. It actually helped a little.
I also make myself go upstairs to go to the bathroom whether number 1 or 2. I am trying to walk about
the house as I can to slowly build up my strength. I am noticing I am eating better since I got home, and thats helping some too.
My biggest complaint right now is the bone pain from coming off the high steroids they had me on while hospitalized. Youchy!! Last night I used some Lidoderm patches on my hips and knees, and it helped me to sleep a little better. And I am not so achy this morning.
I hope everyday continues to get better for you and before long we are hearing how much better you are feeling. Big hugs my friend!!!

Ha, I had to laugh about
the upstairs bathroom. There is no way you couldv'e have known that I was doing
the exact thing, making myself climb that mountain :). As for getting dressed, my incision is still a bit sore, so
I'm running around in my nightie still. I know, being a wuz. I'll give it till the 2 week mark, which will be next
Tuesday. Us Oldies take longer to heal :) Loves ya !!!!

Oh heck ya!! I am so pooped. Yesterday was first day I put clothes on, haha... I much prefer my pj's. I will have to put clothes on later as Hubby and niece are going to a concert, but you can bet as soon as their gone, its back to pj's. Haha...

(((hugs))) and here's praying for a L-O-N-G remission of your problems for both of you!!!
And, AG!!!! I've got you beat! 6 weeks on an NG tube - at which time I pulled it out myself due to pain in three areas - sure enough bloody rings at each of the three areas I complained about
. They wanted to put another down but I put the ki-bosh on THAT idea!!! Went to Mayo and had surgery instead. That was MUCH more comfortable!! And Mayo used a tube out the side of my abdomen rather than an NG tube when I hit the roof at the mention of an NG tube!! God bless the Mayo docs!

Glad both you and Gail are on the mend! You have both gone through a very rough patch. Here's hoping you both have much healthier days ahead.
((Hugs))
