The mother of the main character in the TV series "Hawthorne" had Crohn's. I'm not sure how accurate it is because I don't know how Crohn's was dealt with 20 yrs ago.

There have been so many celebrities over the years with CD.  I think there was a bigger list on here at one time.  Of course one of the biggest celebrities with CD/IBD was JFK.

I think my favorite is from Frank Fritz: "Crohn's is like a duck," he told Crohn's Advocate magazine. "Ducks look calm, floating quietly on the surface of the water, but underneath they are paddling like crazy. It's the same for people with Crohn's—on the outside you can't really tell, but I'm working really hard to stay in control as much as I can."

Kevin Dineen: "This is a chronic, debilitating disease that's with you for life," he says. "It took me a couple of years to come to grips with that."

Mike McCready, lead guitarist for Pearl Jam: "I went public with my condition to show people that despite the disease, you can still have a life and career," he said in a statement.

java, where did you read that JFK was one. i know eisenhower was .. jfk did take alot of steroids but it wasnt for CD he had injured his back in ww2 and even before. he was steroid dependant and was "addisonian" while president.. with his finger on the button, heck they used to not let me even gaurd the bombs and missles while on prednisone sometimes.. depended on the doctor.

To be honest I don't know if JFK had CD or just IBD (it could have been colitis). He did suffer though. Part of the reason he was drug dependant was because of the illness. I have read it in a number of different places.

This article says that many of president Kennedy's health problems could have been avoided if he were diagnosed early with celiac disease. In those days few people heard of it.

A diagnosis of celiac disease, if it had been made could have been treated by diet alone. This would have prevented all the manifestations of the disease and its complications
