Jury Duty is over! :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it through Jury Duty. Thank God for Imodium is all I gotta say! This morning I was stuck in the bathroom for a while before it kicked in. I was really afraid that it wasn't going to stop in time for me to get down there to finish deliberations. Only so many days can I keep everything good in there.

But we got some justice for a few victims of some pretty violent and awful offenses, and I'm proud of myself for being able to stick it out. There were some things I found very interesting, and rewarding. But then again next time I will get a note somehow. It was stressful enough without having the extra anxiety of Crohn's, and all the measures I had to take to make it through. Thanks for all the support everyone!

That's a good question prof. In the past my doctor has basically given me the strong impression that he feels I should be able to do most things with Crohn's. Given I'm in remission and take things like Imodium. Including work. Which I sooo obviously disagree with. So when I got the card I didn't even go see him about a note. I SHOULD have, and I should have been insistent about it. Once in the past I wrote on my questionnaire to Jury Duty about my condition and I never heard back. So that's what I did this time back in April. Guess they wanted the note because they called me up anyway. So I thought hey, I'll tell the judge when I get in there, IF they even call me up that far. Well they did call me up that far, and when I told him about my condition (and did so in front of everyone), he just said that we'll take breaks. I was quite surprised. So it was a long week for me. I won't make any of those mistakes again, and hopefully my doctor will be a bit more understanding when I tell him that I did it once and it was miserable having Crohn's! He'll give me that note, or I'll find a new doctor that will.

Yaaa you made it through.  I envy you the chance to do it as I think it would be interesting, but I could not put myself through the immodium that you did.  Once you have served, you have a reprieve from being called for a specified amount of time.  here's hoping that you are not called for a long time and don't even have to worry about it.

ps.   for all those that get a note and send it in...make sure that is still allowed the next time you get called.  They changed the rules in my area and you have to attend until you see the judge.  Then he will look at your note.  No one else can excuse you now.
