So do you guys usually have to do a light bowel cleanse prep b4 an abdominal MRI (not like a cleanse for a scope, but like a light laxative)? I feel like the past several times I've done one, I drank some stuff the day b4. This time, they are saying nothing to eat after midnight day b4 and that's it. Then I'll just drink the contrast stuff when I get there. Does that sound right?

I sure will be pissed if I get there and they ask me if I finished the bowel cleanse.... I don't want to waste a whole day because of poor instruction.

I've never had to take a laxative before an abdominal MRI. You could take a light laxative just to be sure or if it's not too late where you live, I would just call the doctors office and and specifically ask if you need to do an bowel prep..

I've been to quite a few different hospitals and they all do things differently. Every time I got a colonoscopy the bowel prep was wayyy different. I have found though you can never really do too much. If you feel like what you're doing isn't enough, it probably isn't.. When I went to the Mayo Clinic they just had me take some Dulcolax and drink some kind of carbonated laxative soda pop stuff but then afterwards the doctor told me I had very poor bowel prep and he could barely see anything.. Not too suprising since basically all I took was a stool softener...

Yeah, I've call radiology twice and my doc office. All said no prep at all.... just feels weird.

I've never had to prep for an MRI. Just what they said nothing after midnight.

HA! After 4 more phone calls, I FINALLY got someone that knew what they were talking about and I do have to prep. Just Magnesium Citrate. It's not that I want to do the prep, but I would have been so pissed to have wasted a whole day and then not being able to do the MRI cause I didn't prep. I knew I was right... WINNING. Wait, having to prep isn't winning. :)

Just another example that you have to be in control of your own care and not be afraid to continue to question if you think your provider (person who answers phone in radiology) is an idiot, I mean... could be wrong :)
