Hi Ivy, so lovely to hear from you!!! Covermmore insurance is the best bet... somebody from the Crohn's & Colitis Association Australia gave me a friendly phonecall and then email. For future reference (any Aussie Chronies) The below companies were recommended:
Covermore, AIG, SureSave, QBE, Columbus Direct, STA travel
Covermore was great and didn't require a Dr’s signature unless a heart condition was involved. However the $300+ premium wasn’t so nice, and seeing as I’m officially in remission, I decided on not paying the premium and instead going with regular insurance which means I will still be covered for hospitalisation etc, just not hospitalisation related to crohn’s.
I am a bit scared of going off Remicade given its ‘wearing off’ after the 8 week cycle, but I trust my specialist so emphatically that I do believe he’s doing the right thing by me. It is scary, though..
