Hi there every one. I am concerned with my 14 yr son, he's had some loose motions for quite some yrs now, 3 yrs ago he was checked up and they said all was ok, they didnt check him internally though.  i' ve booked a Dr's  appointment now, hes also been having back pain for 1 and a half yrs. I am very worried for him. mad

My mother had CD and I have CD. Our paths were very similar in when our symptoms started and when we were diagnosed. Also her cousin has CD and the cousin's son has UC. In my family there is a very strong family link. However, I think the statistics are something like 20% of IBD patients have a family member with IBD, so it isn't a fore gone conclusion. I do think you are right to make sure that you have everything checked out because you want to make sure that IF there is anything going on, you don't give it time to run amok. My brother (15 months younger than me) and I both have Crohn's. We were diagnosed probably six months apart. We believe it comes from my dad's side because there are two others on his side that has Crohn's.

I think that research show they may be a genetic connection but they aren't sure how it may go, I think it kind of jumps around.

Heya,

My fater had to have most his intestines removed in the 50's before they even knew what crohns was, he had so many ulcers in his intestines they removed 15 feet and he had a colestomy bag from then on.

I doub't it is a coincidence that he was cik the same way I am :)

Ain't heredity a pain.

However, I have three brothers who don't have it at all. So go figure.

I've had cd for 41 years, and my sister has had a ostomy bag for 20 years

My sister does not have Crohn's.

My half-sister & half-brother do not have Crohns
My kids are only 3 and 6, and have not been diagnosed with Crohns


My mother was diagnosed with UC within the past year, 22 years after I was diagnosed with Crohn's. She was undergoing a routine colonoscopy, and was not experiencing any UC symptoms prior to (or since) the scope.

We'll keep your son in our thoughts and prayers.  Hopefully it is nothing serious.

My older brother had UC and my younger brother has CD. Both of them had/have (older is deceased) ileostomies.

I am the only one of 5 kids who developed Crohns. My sister has another autoimmune disease RA. So sometimes your relatives may not have Crohns but a different autoimmune disease. Hugs!

My father was UC..My oldest son was diagnosed with Crohns at 18 along with having retroverted intestines? It works it is just on opposite sides..My other kids have always had a sensitive digestive system.

someone people have large family history with crohns while others don't. My Memere (french for grandma) had crohns, both her daughters have crohns & I have crohns. My 2 female cousins do not, or have not complained of any symptoms or problems yet. on my fatehrs side My uncle has crohns.

Thank you ever so much with your Replies filled with wishes. I wish you well and your relatives.
Will be taking my son on the 21st in the morning he's very sensitive i just hope every thing is ok and the Dr helps and refers to a specialist. Take care all.
