What is the stinking point of Medicare part d if...

they keep denying my CD meds and things needed for my CD arthritis...they deny even with a prior auth from docs and mult letters...that was for the lidoderm patches for my joints...I can understand Humira maybe being a hassle due to its price and the fact I need it weekly, needed mult letters to get it approved)...Pentasa again needed a prior auth but with just the PA they approved it...entocort needed prior auth and letter of medical nec...but got approved now that generic isnt fairing well with me and my doc needs to taper me off it since it has been 1 year on the max dose he wants me to go back on Imuran which I havent been on since at least 06...I was on it for a min of 12 yrs before had many issues with it and my WBC tot he point I nearly needed a bone marrow biopsy so scared as heck to go back on it ...but know it is what I need so I was at the doc wednesday he escripted it I got a txt  from my pharamcy saying they needed more info so I called to see what info and they WHAT A SURPRISE need a prior auth...

so then I call the pharmacy today still hearing nothing they tell me now they are just waiting to hear back from the insurance now the GI did his thing it was going thru.....just to get a call a few hours later from the insurance automated system telling me that they denied it being covered and it will need to have an appeal placed well my freaking GI nor his staff work on Fridays but I call anyway hoping to get someone and maybe they could get the ball rolling...well I got a person but since my docs office ppl are out I have to wait til Monday...now he wanted to run labs at specific intervals after starting the meds and see me after 6 weeks of being on it and have my appt and I made other appts for that same day since it is 40 miles from home as is the VA for my husband...so he set his up that day too.

  I was feeling really well since tues this week now tonight I am in lots of pain again just took a dilaudid for it, took 1 of my percosets earlier when It started but it has since intensified and the percoset I took about 6 hours ago.

I, too, am on medicare part D.  The open enrollment period  starts  earlier this year - I think Oct. 31.  I would do some research and find out which plans  allow imuran or 6 mp or other crohn's meds without requiring  prior authorization and  sign  up for one of them.  The plan I am on only requires prior auth. for remicade and Humira.  My 6 mp I got without any problem at all.  Maybe talk  to your doctor about  it since it is the sister drug to Imuran.  Good luck!

Hi Dragonfly and everyone, I just had to pipe in my 2 cents. I have private insurance thru my employer. They cover next to nothing and have large copays even after I have met my deductible. They are worthless and last year I did do every test etc., till I exhausted my $$$ and could not do any more. I do take my prescriptions but my remicade was a $485 co pay... thank God I had a bad reaction so only had to pay for 2 of them. It is a sad state of affairs. They sent me a letter about my latest required blood work (which they always deny - it's Prometheus lab) and after 3 months of appeals and letters from the Dr. office, they wrote that it was approved but "this is not a guarantee of coverage or payment". What the HECK???? So, I still did not get my Prometheus blood work done. As they intend... no doubt. They are real ******s. I now need blood work, MRI, and arthritis work up, but can't do it. And the funny part is : I AM INSURED and bust my a** to work every day, cause i guess it would be even worse if I was un insured. I am ranting, but .... I feel your pain.
