hello. i need some advice. i am having alot of problems with anal pain. i had a fissure that has healed but have anal pain all the time. i am not diagnosed but my gastro is running tests on me.. i had a colonscopy which was ok, waiting results of biopsy and going to have a small bowell follow thru.  my problems are.  weight loss  25 pounds in 1 and half months, mouth sores, alternating diarrhea and contispation, not able to gain any weight, fatigue and my butt which hurts all the time inside.  i have went to 2 colon rectal docs since the fissure has healed but neither one of them has been able to help me with any meds that actually help me.  should i call my gastro back up and talk to them and try to get on some kind of enema or something that can help me? sometimes i cant even leave the house because my butt hurts so much..  thanks.

oh no! im sooo sorry!!!

this happened to me when i was 21, i had an abcess the size of a grapefruit in my colon. i couldnt sit down. finally went to ER and had emergency surgery. almost same symtoms as you minus mouth sores. after i woke up, thats when my surgeons told me i had crohns. hasnt happened since *crossing fingers and toes*.

but call your GI, go to ER. dont keep waiting for something to happen!!

There are rectal meds that can be prescribed, so I would get in touch with your GI and discuss how you are feeling. Hugs!

I know how this feels (:When are the bioposy results going to be out? Did any of the rectal surgeons perform a proctoscope ( a small scope that explores the first 15 cm of the rectum)? I have had and am still suffering from anal fissures, skin tags and a pressure pain because of my proctitis. I take pentasa enema before I sleep and it really made a differene for me and the diarrhea has become less.
Of course, I agree with both Noories and Nanners that you should contact your doc but until then, you can have sitzbaths; i.e, sit in hot water several times per day and then apply a local cream. This could be lidocaine or one that contains hydrocortisone (the OTC ones). These can be a help if used for a short period of time.

minnietoty, i dont know if i had a proctoscope or not ever. basically they the 2 crs i have went to told me fissure is healed and maybe it is proctitis but dont give me anything to help me with the pain. i also have a skin tag that hurts. i called the crs today but they didnt call me back. i am just going to call the gastro tomm that i go to because i just cant stand this pain anymore . i have used hydrocortisone creme but it doesnt seem to help me at all. i have taken sitz baths also. i wish i could get a enema that would help me with this problem, i cant take much more of this.

Sorry you're going through all this. Fissures are awful.

Over the counter, I use Cortate cream, not the ointment and not generic. Which one did you try? The brand name one works best.
Prescribed for my fissure, I used proctosedyl and steroid suppositories (forget the name of them).
Maybe add some salt to your sitz bath and even a little baby oil.

I hope you get some relief soon.

thank you all for posting. i am using analpram again to try to relieve some pain, it doesnt work very well though. i am just hoping that the small bowell follow thru will provide them with some information on what is wrong with me. i dont know how much longer i can go with the massive weight loss and other problems i am having. does anyone know how long does it take to get biposy back from colonscopy?

Hi Jenny...so sorry you are having so much pain.  I know exactly how you feel.  I was having so much anal pain from a fissure.  I finally had a fissurectomy and that helped so much!

What I have found that works pretty well is soaking in a warm bath.  Also there is a cream called Calmoseptine which is AMAZING!  You really need to get that...its OTC and you should be able to get it at a local drug store.  Also putting cornstarch on the area helps me.
