So, not fully covered anymore so Remicade is out. No longer riding the R-train.

Trying methotrexate.....7.5mg a week for a month. Wondering what others have experienced with this drug.

Do you mean insurance doesn't fully cover your remicade? If so, have you looked into the remistart program? Remistart will help pay for part of the medication.

I started methotrexate about 1 month ago. Haven't noticed any good on it yet but I have read that it can take a few months. Mainly it gives me massive fatigue and headaches right now...but I have a positive outlook and am hoping once I am increased to a full dose (25 mg injection per week) that it the side effects will be worth it.

Was taking methotrexate fore some years for my Psoriasisartritis but unforthunally it had no effect on my chrone ( not diagnosed then but active) and after several years i suddenly got so nauseause on it so I had to stop. Hope you have better effect as I know some have had.

7.5mg. for a month doesn't seem like very much of a dose. I was originally put on 25mg a week (injections) for three months then cut back to 15mg which I have been taking for three years now. I have had a bowel resection but I had a stricture which was made up of scar tissue when I was first diagnosed with Crohn's and before any medications. Was asymptomatic and still am. I have no side effects from the MTX and last colonoscopy showed no active Crohn's.

I am on methotrexate pills for my lupus.  I have just been bumped up to 20mg.  I notice fatigue a few days after.  I take them on Monday nights so I don't have much issue with nausea.  It has helped a lot with my Lupus and I have even noticed it helping my crohn's.  Good luck!
