Bone infarct

I just got my results of my  knee MRI and was told I have a bone infarct, most probably from steroid use and/or Crohn's. I have to go to an orthopedic for management. Anyone had this? If you had to take any anti inflammatories, which ones are tolerable with Crohn's? I tell you, this DD never stops. My gut has been somewhat controllable the last few months and then this happens. Very depressing! I just don't know how much more fun I can take :(

Thanks Kazbern! Apparently, your bones can have a blockage that is equivalent to a heart attack in the bone and everything past the blockage dies. This can be caused from steroid use, autoimmune diseases etc. I just happen to be one of the lucky ones. Eventually, the dead bone collapses prompting a knee replacement. I am waiting to see an ortho an maybe he can give me more positive news but right now, I am pretty down because I am normally so active. Thanks for listening!

Nanners, what do they give you in place of an NSAID?

I was diagnosed with avascular necrosis [also called osteonecrosis or a bone infarct] in 2004. Over 30% of each femoral head is involved, ie dead. Mine is likely from steroid usage. Mine is no longer active and I have no pain. Basically, the ortho is telling me to wait until I hve pain. then I will need hip replacements. Sorry to learn you are having to deal with this. The earlier it is caught the better. If yours is in an early stage, then perhaps the corrective procedure will not be as invasive. See an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in osteonecrosis if possible.

Ah avascular necrosis. That I've heard about. My sister had to have both femoral heads coveredwith a special metal liner a couple of years ago, with no known cause. I suspect she has undiagnosed Crohn's, but she's not quite ready to pursue that thought. Scary.
