In terms of cost - I would check with your insurance company. The Humira costs us $100 for a 3 month supply. When my son was on Remicade, it cost us hundreds of dollars for each infusion (for him - every 6 weeks) one year, and then we switched plans and it only cost us the amount of a copay for each visit. Also, I think the makers of both drugs offer programs where they will help if you cannot afford the medication. We joined the Remistart program and it was great - very easy to sign up.
Humira is certailnly more convenient since you don't have to go somewhere to get an infusion. That's why my son switched. He had to miss a whole day of school for each infusion and that got to be too much once he started high school. So, for us - the Remicade put my son into remission, and the Humira has kept him there
Good luck with your decision. I hope you feel better soon.
Take care,
Nancy (son Ben, 17, CD d/x 3/06; Humira, Milk Thistle, Probiotic)
