I am new here and so glad I found this site. So much great information.

I was diagnosed with Crohns about 12 years ago in my mature years!! It has been interesting dealing with it. Luckily I would say it is mostly a mild case. I have regular constipation with some D. But mostly my problems are the strictures I have causing me to throw up often and I am always fighting anemia.

I have fought off any surgeries so far, even tho' my Dr would love me to go in that direction. But as long as I can live a fulfilled life, I would rather not have any surgery. I do worry about having to have emergency surgery and not getting to have the Dr I want.

I am retired and have worked just a few hours a week for 5 years. One of my closest friends is my boss and I can work the hours and days I want.

I also camp with my horses and trail ride often.

Hubby and I have been married over 50 years.

Hi there! And welcome.These ppl here are great!!! I find myself falling in love with those big beasts too!! I try and go to the barn 1 time a week to get close to them!! i swear those horses help sooth my pains and worries! Don't have one of my own yet,but on day i will!! Welcome! Lots of us here can be classified as in our "mature years." This is the best forum I've ever found for questions, venting, and companionship. Hope you'll keep visiting--and hope everything goes well for you and your family.

Hi Okeydar and welcome to Healingwell. Sorry for the reason you have to be here though. You know alot of folks put off having surgery only to later have the decision taking out of their hands. Its better to have a planned surgery than an emergency. Trust me I have been there and it wasn't fun.

Also, alot of folks put off surgery and come to find out once they have surgery, they are wondering why they waited so long. Sorry you are having such a rough go of it. Hugs!

Welcome to our forum. I, too, am a "mature" member - I'm 67 years old. It is always good to hear from a more "mature" person with this disease as we often react differently than younger people do to the drugs, the healing time, etc.

I, too, am fighting off surgery. My blockages are due to inflammation and not strictures so I am hoping to not have to start that long road at my age. It is especially hard with winter coming as I am a widow and live alone. I would have to find someone to shovel the walk to my car and clean off my car after snow storms (we get a lot of snow here in NH).

Come back and visit us often. There is a lot of helpful information here and lots of support.
