Humira was oozing out of me!

Everyone once in a while that will happen to me if I don't let go of my skin at the right time. I wouldn't stress out over it too much, I'm sure you got enough medication in. If your worried try calling the Humira people I had to do that the other day and the nurses were so nice. They could give you a piece of mind.

that happened to me my first time I did it and it actually happened in front of my dr and he said that it happens and that a person usually gets most of the meds even if some comes out.... It has happened a few more times after that but i was fine for the week!

me too.. i will wager that most of the medication goes in and that what your seeing coming back out is the sterile fluid used to transport the meds. its like a pill. the amount of actual meds is small compared to the size. its all fillers and carriers.

Something similar happened to me once, too, a few injections ago when I injected into my thigh.

The nurse who taught me how to self inject instructed me not to pinch an area to inject into. She said the needle does not extend far enough past the canister to hit muscle...so I could press the pen fully and flush against my abdomen, and hit the button. She believed there was a great risk for this type of leakage if you did it exactly per the instructions.

I usually inject in the stomach, and I had to move to the thigh after surgery. In the thigh, I have much less fat between the skin and muscle, so I felt that I should pinch an inch and inject into that site.

I've since moved back to the stomach and have gone back to the way I was instructed (flush, not pinching.)

My data sample size isn't big though....1 problem in just 14 self-injections.

Hi wednesday, I did not inject it into the muscle it was in the stomach. You're either supposed to do it there or on the top of the thigh. It's subcutaneous I think that's why they want you to squeeze the area a bit before you inject.
