just been for my 2nd colonoscopy result . GI DR says biopsys not back yet . but colonoscopy seems clear ???? i was diagnosed with crohns july this yr via CT scan ??? So my dr says i may have IBS ???? Now got to have MRI scan and go back in 2 months . now what about the pain loose stools constipation blh blh .I have to stay on pred taper it down and 175 Azathioprine . Oh im so fed up .

I know. I have Crohn's AND IBS as well. It sucks. I had a colonoscopy once that was clear, while I was feeling generally unwell. Honestly, I would have prefered it to be Crohn's and NOT IBS! See, yesterday I had the runs like no other and yet, I'm in remission. You never win with this disease!

I've had D almost every single day since 1999, accompanied by joint and muscle aches, exhaustion, and sometimes lower left quadrant abdominal pain. When things are at their worst, tests show no narrowing in my intestines. I've been on 6MP since 2004 and am technically in remission--but all the symptoms continue, supposedly the result of short gut syndrome (after a resection), gallbladder removal, and IBS. Definitely sucks.

Don't forget that a colonoscopy only allows the doc to see the colon and perhaps a part of the terminal ileum.  There is about 20 more feet of bowel that cannot be seen this way.

Sit down with your doc and compare the CT results to what he did on the scope.  Perhaps consider a pill cam to image the small bowel.

Have you gotten relief from the meds?

Another comment repeating what kaz said. 

Plus, from what I understand, the colonoscopy may look clear, but the biopsy should be able to verify a positive diagnosis of Crohns.

As the others said, I have had positive biopsies, but I almost always "look" good on examination. My disease is higher up and can't be seen by Colonoscopy. There is a huge amount of bowel that can't be seen by C-scope. I have never understood why it is considered the gold standard.

Thank you for all you kind words .yes i could not live without pain relief tramadol . Thay can call what i have ga ga land for all i care lolol i just want to feel a bit like the old me . now i know that is not going to happen .Im going to wait till iv had MRI scan. dont know if they are any good ?????and then take it from their . I do not know what i would of done without you all on here sorry i cant give back as i was only diagnosed 9 wks ago so it is like a learning game at the moment with a lot of pain and me and my friend the porcelain pot rolleyes
