Stood up to Crohn bullies

I have never been the type to yell and scream. I really am a reserved and polite person. But I think a person can only take so much. So today I was approached by those roommate bullies of mine about the smell in the bathroom and in their usual rude manner. Well all of my anger came out, quite loudly and with a few curse words. I told them to leave me the **** alone. I told them that i pay housing here and do not need to be bossed around. Every problem I had with them I yelled it to them. I'm tired of being polite and having the housing staff ignore me. And I looked them in the face while I yelled and they kept yelling at the wall and did not look at me. I said I don't care what you do in the bathroom so stop trying to control what I do in the bathroom. Well they ended going over to the RA. Which already knows me and all the struggles I've had, because let's face it the entire housing staff knows me, i've gone to see everyone many times. She speaks to me and says she's going to call everyone so they can speed up the process. But it felt wonderful getting all my anger out. I am tired of being the victim, I am tired of being pushed around and being told what to do. I am tired of being yelled at because there is an odor in the bathroom or having my nametag ripped off the door. Now I'm hoping since I wasn't on the complaining side they will actually get me that private room. But for now i feel some relief and like a part of the weight has been lifted.

I'm so sorry for what you've had to go through, having to deal with ppl who have such poor characters. I hope they will learn something from all this, especially to be more accommodating and accepting of ppl with disabilities.

Good for you! We all need to stand up for ourselves, regardless of the problem.

I hope that you've documented all of your attempts to get assistance from the college and if you have not, start doing so immediately. Although it's not likely, I'd hate it for them to try and turn the table on you and say that you are the person creating the problem. Hopefully now someone will finally start to listen and remember - DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO PUT YOU IN A POSITION WHERE YOUR HOUSING COSTS INCREASE. It is the college's responsibility to place you in an environment where you are safe and comfortable. They are required to make accomodations for you based on your disability and doing so should NOT come at an additional cost to you.

The good thing about my situation is that absolutely everyone in housing knows me. So they know I have been struggling with my roommates. I also have all supporting documentation. So it really would be impossible for them to flip it on me. I did take the appropriate route before I went off on the actual roommates. So I'd actually be happy if they go to them so I can go back to those same people and say"well if you weren't going to help I had to help myself" Hopefully this will get their butt in motion to find me that room. And it is true that they're crazy enough to be always focusing on what I'm doing, when I go to the bathroom, when I take a shower.

Congrats. Those girls sound seriously weird. You did well to finally tell them some home truths.

I've been reading your chronicles, and I'm really glad that you stood up for yourself. Hopefully things will get resolved for you really soon. Try to keep an upbeat attitude, ignore the jerks as best as possible, and hold your head high.

You had mentioned it in the other thread, but if you are still going to a different floor/area to go to the bathroom, I personally wouldn't do that. I would continue to go to the restroom closest to me. But that's just me. I would have been barking at them long before today.

I also hope you don't feel that this sort of behavior goes with the territory of having crohn's. Couldn't be further from the truth, IMO. You are in this situation because you got the rotten potatoes of college rommate pot luck. In one sense, you are actually lucky that these immature jerks exposed their true nature from the beginning. It is much worse to have people like this in your life that pretend to be your friends, but are secretly are waiting to stab you in the back.

A slap in the face, while not desireable, is preferrable to the alternative treatment from people like this. There is story in the news from last week...a lady in Iowa set her long-time friend's house on fire in the middle of the night because her friend had "de-friended" her on Facebook.

Anyway, they are not singling you out because you have Crohn's disease. They are singling you out because they are b!tches.

It's sad that this had to turn into a crisis in order to get the attention from housing that you deserved in the first place. Good for you for standing up for yourself. Hopefully the girls will back up long enough until you are moved in to a better living situation. I' so sorry you have to go through all of this!
