I'm going out of town to visit my dad and extended family. When I'm healthy, I'm a little overweight, and I've lost around 10 pounds since being so sick the past couple of months. Everyone knows I'm sick again, but I guarantee you, I'm going to get a bunch of compliments on how "great" I look. I'm just venting. The truth is, I do look better when I'm sick, but I would trade it for feeling good any day of the week. I just wish I could get hugs and support instead! Then again, maybe the steroids on on will make me fat....then I'll be fat and sick....what joy!!!!

Completely understand the problem! The only answer to their remark is....well, thank you. Thenyou could toss your cookies at their feet to see if they get it. Seriously, unless they get it right away, I think some family never gets it. Here is a hug for you to take on the road!

I get that a lot too. More recently I've had friends and family ask "what's my secret.' I tell them to go get a bowel disease. It's real easy to stay thin that way. That usually ends the conversation. :-)

I made it through my visit and everybody was a lot nicer than I expected. It was a tough week-end for me because I'm still not feeling great, but I made it through. My mom died last March, and I was long overdue for a visit with my 84 year old Dad. He's doing well though...he's thinking of asking out his neighbor from across the hall:) So, I think he's doing better than me!

So glad to hear it went better than planned!  Family - a big pain in the butt, always surprising, but always family.

I have the same issue with my Dad....only he was dating a woman much younger and bad for him.  I wish I could find a sweet old lady that would be nice to him.
