Hello everyone! I am new on here. I have had crohn's since last year. I am taking Pentasa now. Some days are good ones
and some days are not
. I have been feeling bloated all the time. Holiday's are around the corner and I know I won't eat much. Has anyone been on Pentasa before? Did you like it/hate it?

I'm currently on 3000 Mg Pentasa per day. I'm on it since my DX Marsh 2011. Good so far, I had some problem taking them at first, it was cutting my appetite but I had no problem taking them after the meal.
Even though I see a difference since then, I'm not completly symptomless.. (Still have very little baby cramp in the left) I'm hoping the result we be enough at my next scope to keep it as my only med. Because I really like it.

I took Pentasa for a long time, just recently stopped because of tinnitus. It worked well for me.
Are you able to remember to take it 4x/day? I was not, so my GI had me take it 2x/day. If you find that you are not getting the full dose because you forget to take it midday, talk to your GI about
revising the schedule.

Welcome to healingwell PetiteLady! I was on Pentassa for about
a year and like Kazbern developed tinnitus so stopped taking it completely. I'm not sure it was doing much for me, but I've gone into remission a few weeks after starting LDN back in August of this year. Hope you will find a treatment that will give you many more good days and I hope you can have something yummy for Thanksgiving.

Hi Petitelady and welcome to Healingwell. I have taken Pentasa in the past and had no issues with it. I now am maintained solely on the sister med Asacol and it works well for me too.
For the bloating you might want to talk to your doc about
a possible bacterial overgrowth. Also are you taking any kind of probiotic? If not, you really should look into to them. It may be helpful for the bloating as we crohnies tend to have a bad bacterial imbalance in our intestines and the probiotics help put back in the good bacteria. I take Primadolphilus Fortify by Natures Way, you can find in your local healthfood store in the refrigerated section.
Others use VSL#3, Align or Culterelle to name a few. Hugs!
