tired of having to wear loose maternity pants all the time

I have been unable to wear anything tight on my tummy for years. I get almost all my pants tailored to be loose on the tummy, and I still can't wear jeans.
Anything on my tummy makes the cramping bloating feeling intolerable, and even causes more "d". There must be something I can do to stop this. I don't hear a lot of CDers complaining about this, but I find it very challenging.
Any advice?

I can usually wear jeans, but there are days when only a loose dress or sweats/leggings will do. I was actually in a store the other day trying on jeans and the sales lady was trying to help me find the right size/style. She kept trying to get me to go down a size so that they would fit better through the leg/butt area. I kept saying no they were just fine, because I wanted them loose at the waist. She couldn't understand and kept asking if I was going to wear a belt and make a bubble butt. Ha, no belt EVER!

Have you ever tried the pants that have the hidden elastic in the waist/pocket area. I think Lands End has them and Norm Thompson. They are slightly dressy, but at least they don't look like elastic waist pants.

I have reached the next step which is an ileostomy but I wear tight fitting clothes to avoid it being seen. When my stomach is "going" though I reach for an outfit that is loose fitting thats for sure. I like to wear the jogging pants that have a tie/string with a matching jacket, velour material. I think kohls carries the "so" brand...small,medium and large sizes and they also have plus sizes.

I get that problem from time to time & the bloating/distention is unberably painful. I always have a few pairs of pants in my closet that are for 'curvy wastes' or low rise and I wear them when I am going out and about and know I'll have to eat eventually  I'm not overweight but it's just embarassing to go from looking like a 4 to being 6 months pregnant in a matter of minutes. It usually happens when I eat a lot at one time(vegetables especially).

   I guess it's better to be bloaty in the winter with everyone else due to the holiday foods than in the summer when most look like beach Gods

Has anyone tried lululemon pants? I've heard they're supposed to be comfy.

LOL Roni, we posted our replies at the exact same time, mine came in just above yours but the same time (7:55pm) about Lululemon!

Lululemon, Athleta, and Title Nine, all have some really high quality yoga type pants with stretch to the them. I tend to get low rise or mid rise jeans and then they sit below most of my belly bloat, but still I have trouble some days.

i have this problem A LOT! not fun at all...one morning ill be fine and then by mid day im sitting at my desk with a sweatshirt on hiding my stomach and the fact that my pants are unbuttoned because my stomach is too big. sweatpants and sweatshirts are my best friends at home but when im out or at work ive found that the roll-top yoga pants are great. you can roll them down far enough below your belly so that your stomach is over them the rather than getting cut in half by them. plus most of them are black so when you go out you can kind of hide that fact that theyre actually yoga pants. old navy, tjmaxx and marshalls usually have comfy cheap ones..other than that loose fitting shirt and no belts...oh the joys! hope that helps!

Oh, what I wouldn't do to put on some skin tight jeans. I could always buy some and get my seamstress to cut out the entire front and put stretchy cotton or something non-restrictive. I'd have skinny legs and a pregnant-looking tummy. What else is new, eh? lol

Roni, I know what you mean. I was dx at 18yo and as a sort of fashion concious teen I wanted to wear stuff my friends wore. Well as much as I could, being a 6'3 female means fashion was a bit restricted 22 years ago and even more so when had to think about bloating. I look ed like one of those famine victims, really stick thin arms and legs and stomach that made me look like I was 6 months pregnant!

But now I wear what I want within reason. Around the house I wear jogging bottoms and leggings but always change to my skinny jeans when I go out of the house.

The maternity jeans idea is a good one. Over in UK all the stores have a maternity range and so you can be as fashionable as you want and the skinny jeans with a stretchy panel at the front would be great if need to allow for bloating and they are no more expensive than normal ones either. Not sure what sort of maternity ranges are available in US but hopefully they have some reasonable ones.

No I am not promoting the links or telling anyone to go shop there, there are lots of other websites that sell stuff like this, but the point behind these clothes is, they hang, NO waistbands at all.

It is heaven compared to wearing healthy persons clothes, yeah thats right, I turned "healthy person" into their own demographic!

I was just telling my gf of 18 years last night, no one who doesnt have this disease truly understands it and all its oddities, explaining it to anyone. is like talking to a brick wall.

Habs, I do that all the time, I started doing it when I was first pregnant and just started showing but didn't have maternity clothes yet (daughter is 24 now!), but I always have a pony tail holder in my purse or pocket for just that purpose! Works to give you an extra inch or so.
