Imurran and chest cough

so finally imurran has kicked in, and the reason I knew was I started to cough and spit up this yukkey grey flemmy stuff, so my Q, is it the imurran that has me coughing, or is my immune system so wealened that it isn't the imurran that has caused this horrible deep chesty cough or is it my immune system so weakened that I'm picking up every bug that comes my way, just got over really bad flu, now this awful cough, and I feel sh****. so my bm's are good, my gut feels good, but my throat and chest and mouth full of canker's don't feel good. has anybody else had this happen with imurran, the same thing happened when I was on rem. I only lasted 11 months with rem. now with imurran I'm down to taking one 50mg and 15mg of pred, trying to get flare down in my chest, mouth. I woul;d like to stop and start imurran, but it took so long to take affect, I hate to have to start over again, that's why I'm down to just one 50mg of imurran, at least it's still in system, any other suggestions.

AG, I have been on azathioprine (similar to Imuran I think, get a bit confused with names different in US and UK) for best part of 16 years and get a bad chest infection once a year. Had a chest infection 6 weeks ago and thought that was my one for the year and then 4 weeks ago got a stinking cold from customer at work and even 3 weeks later after another lot of antibiotics still have a really nice hacking cough although the chest infection has gone. Speaking to a nurse at my GP surgery sahe says there are loads of bugs going around over here that are lingering around for weeks after the initial cold has gone. I would recommend you see your GP and ensure you don't have an infection and if so then a course of antibiotics should clear it up. That can be life on immunesuppressants for you. Glad it has settled down bowel symptoms for you, it has always worked well for me.

AG. I'm still getting over a really bad virus. The doc says there are some really nasty ones going around.
It might be you need a course of antibiotics to help clear your chest. Good luck!!

oh for sure I do, I have to take the 5 day that is good for 10 days, forgot the name,

but anti's give me uncontrolled D, I just can't get appt. until this monday

I think we are just more susceptible to anything going around AG . My doc tells me to stay away from hospitals but then sends me for blood work all the time . Where do I get to wait , in the ER waiting room with every sick person there is . I catch every dang bug too . I have found that over the counter allergy pills have helped me with bad coughs I use to get every year though . Maybe that could help you too . Hope you feel better soon .

I've never had coughing issues on imuran.
Let us know what the docs say.

Mine isn't helped as I have asthma as well so colds/bugs always seem to head for my chest. Hope the antibiotics help when you get them.
