Thank you very much. It's very insightful. For me it is the right time to read this as I was starting to wonder whether I have IBS as I have always been told or IBD though I can never get into remission. But reading this article put me on the right track again and I'm now sure it's indeterminate colitis but I have to be patient till one of the many meds I take kicks in.

Weird.. I recently read this article about how they now see inflamtion in people with "IBS"

I do not find it weird at all that you and I both found different articles on the WEB. 

I found your article interesting - it spoke to infections which may be causing some IBS issues..............that makes sense to me also.

Sometimes articles out there do put out misinformation...I've often read articles that refer to "Irritable Bowel Disease" or "Inflammatory Bowel Syndrom" (which is wrong info/terminology) so be cautious with articles you come across.

I have yet to see a definition of IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) probably because they can't definite it. It is a catch all diagnosis that I'm sure includes undiagnosed people with inflammatory bowel disease since you can have the latter without seeing inflammation. I am most curious to know what would happen to those diagnosed with IBS if they were given a drug like pentasa.

Well, I know that Pentasa never worked for me and I was DX with crohn's and then on top of the CD DX back in 1991, I was also DX as having IBS in about 2004, so my GI feels that I have both now and I have no reason to doubt him since my CD feels different than my IBS and I'm able to control my IBS much better than my CD.

Thing with IBS is there is no inflammation, it's not attacking the intestinal lining due to no inflammation so using an anti-inflammatory med on it wouldn't likely relieve the symptoms of IBS.
