This is how dirty and tricky this disease is, how it likes to toy with us...
So I make supper for us for basically 5:00 sharp, for a while I found that as soon as we sat down to eat supper, after a few bits or half my plate being gone or close to being done eating, I would get the "urge" and would have to leave the table to "take care of business". Naturally thinking it was the food going in and digesting and therefore causing the urge.
Well, low and behold, I decided to change our supper hour to 6:00 and what did I discover, that even not eating at 5pm I would get the potty urge, here it was so easy to put the connection together thinking that by the act of eating/digesting was "triggering" the need to "go" and then learning that no, not at all, it was simply the time of day that brought on the urge, had nothing to do with the act of eating.
Stupid disease, how it toys with us, leading us to believe we know what's going on and why, only to find out one thing really had nothing necessarily to do with the other (act of eating triggering the urge at that specific time).
However, I do find that after eating (and not just supper, but snacks too) I still have to give myself some time before going anywhere since it seems that often at some point (sometimes within an hour or so) after eating I will have a BM.
I found it kinda mind blowing (dirty sneaky disease) and I've been meaning to share this with you all.
