Side Effects 6MP?

My 13 year old son starting 6MP two and a half weeks ago and has been feeling unwell, very tired and experiencing chest pains that also go under his arms. He had two episodes where he had severe pain, accompanied by weakness and cold sweats, the last happened on Wednesday night and I brought him to a+e who carried out ECG and chest xray, all of which thankfully were fine. I have contacted his Consultant who says it is unlikely the 6MP. From researching the Internet it takes approx two months for your body to get used to 6MP but is it fair to make my son feel even more unwell then he had been, or are these pains crohn's related pains?

Many thanks for your reply, thankfully his doctor agreed this evening to him stopping 6MP and to revisit it after Christmas, I know it is not the long term solution but will give him a lift hopefully in the short term as he has been unwell since late summer and did not even get any lift from his blood transfusion this week. Onwards and upwards!

Thanks Lesley, it is heartbreaking as he was diagnosed with oral crohns and mild inflamation of bowel when he was 7 and has thankfully been very well up until now, he lives for his sport and does very well at it but that has all been put on hold since august. We live in Ireland so sadly don't need to worry about the sun too much! Best of luck with 6MP in February and thanks for your advice.

Thanks all for your kind words, I am happy to say he has woken up a different boy this morning! I am sure it takes a lot longer for the 6MP to leave your system and the side effects to stop but he is a lot happier this morning and looks brighter, so whatever it is I am very grateful.
