Happy New Year Everyone
My break from the earthquakes didn't quite go as planned as I ended up having an unplanned stay in Queenstown Hospital with a fairly painful partial obstruction - ironically just a looped bowel that was not crohns related and could have happended to anyone .... no consolation!
Luckily for me they admitted me before it got too awful and with fabulous care plus antispasmodics, morphine, fluids etc and nil by mouth they got it under control in a couple of days so I was able to get back home last night.
Resting up now and still looking about 8 months pregnant which is causing many jokes at my expense.
Resting is a relative term in Christchurch as this morning we got woken by a 4.8 earthquake, which, being quite close, literally gave us quite a shake. No longer have any matching glassware or china and no longer care LOL
I can highly recommend the hospital at Queenstown - although small the staff were outstanding and fabulous single rooms had the best beds and views of the lake or in my case the Remarkables (very impressive mountain range that have been well named). A kind nurse even gave me some take away meds for my oral ulcer/thrush which was nothing to do with why I was admitted but was most appreciated indeed.
Cost to me .... $0 !!!! We are SO lucky in NZ to have a public health system that is there when we need it. Will certainly pay my next tax installment with very good grace :)
Was also pleased that tests showed my crohns is well under control so looks like low budesonide and FODMAP are still working for me YAY :)
hugs to all
