Just starting Remicade

So, the steroids weren't doing enough. My GI has now given me my first Remicade dose as of last night. How long until I should expect a change? I am in less pain today, but part of me is terrified it might just be wishful thinking mixed with timing.
Just a bit of background, I have been in the hospital for a little over a week this time. Came in with a 102.9 degree fever, stomach feeling like it was exploding, urinary incontinence, vomiting, and chills. I still haven't had a bowel movement in over a week (1/24/12 was the last one). The pain was getting worse and worse, but today I actually asked them to lower me to 1.5 of dilaudid instead of the full 2.

Vicky - My daughter has been on Remi for a year now. It's been a great year.  She felt better after the very first dose.  Not immediately, but I would say that within about two or three weeks I noticed her appetite pick up.  A year later and she's "almost" seeming normal.  I put almost in quotes because there are still certain foods that tend to bother her like dark chocolate, greasy things, spicy things, etc.  I hope you are feeling better as quickly as she did.  For some people tho, it takes longer. Have patience.

When I was originally put on Remicade I would have sworn I could tell a difference immediately after the infusion. Within a couple of days I could physically tell it was working. It was my miracle drug for about 9 months when the doctor took me off. After about 18 months she put me back on but my body had built a tolerance and it didn't work anymore. But man, when it worked it felt as though I didn't have Crohns at all.
