Wow. So in a way it was great news that you didn't have lymphoma, but you got stuck with Crohn's instead. Wow. That's one tough way to be diagnosed. What an emotional roller-coaster it must have been.
I was diagnosed in '93, so I'm not too far behind you
. I've had two very severe bouts: one in my teens (when I was diagnosed), and another that started nine years ago, and which I'm still recovering from. Officially, I'm now in remission, but still having abdo symptoms, and a lot of problems with other illnesses / syndromes that have developed over the years, like fibromyalgia and (mild) inflammatory arthritis, things like that.
Done tpn; done naso-gastric feeding; done the 5-asas; done Imuran (reacted to it eventually, so had to switch to methotrexate) and Remicade (reacted again) and am now on Humira.
Right now I've been put on the fodmaps diet, which is helping some of the abdo symptoms, but the diet itself is completely annoying and restrictive
.
It's great to meet you!
Ivy.
