So I'm kind of pissed off at my gastro right now. I had an ileocecectomy in November of last year and everything as been going great. I was on the low residue diet for six weeks and have been eating and almost normal diet, light on wheat/gluten.
Yesterday, though, I have what felt like a bowel obstruction at my surgery sight. The night before I ate a meal fairly high in fiber, so possibly that was the culprit. The anger? My doctor's nurse just called and said, oh yes, this can happen and you'll have to just stay away from fiber from now on. That's news to me! Everyone told me I would be able to have a normal diet for possibly years and that my disease is now in remission; now, they're saying I have to go light on fiber?
Is this a common problem that the surgery sight can't really handle what a normal person's small/large intestine connection zone can?
