Can anyone help me?

To anyone who can shed some light for me.

I am an 18 year old male from the United Kingdom. I have been suffering for about a month with constant abdominal pains that won't go away when passing a bowel movement or passing wind or belching etc. The pain in generalised to my lower abdomen which flares up every now and again. Sometimes the pain is dull but sometimes the pain can be so severe that I cannot sleep and it wakes me up sometimes. Other symptoms include:

Itchy Anus and Sore anus after wiping (sometimes I can feel sores or lumps on my anus, which I'm getting checked out for piles soon by my GP 27th Feb) this has been going on for some months now. Is it possible to have an icthy anus before stomach cramping in Crohn's?

My stomach gurgles and bubbles a lot more. I get a strange bubbling sensation and loud noises coming from my stomach and intestines. My stools have been generally good, not loose and formed and normally of a mid brown colour. Sometimes I see mucus in them and sometimes they can look fluffy. I have been urinating a little bit more frequently than usual for the past 2 weeks. As I said bowel movements don't ease the pain at all. I am generally well, been quite tired recently but I had blood tests and they all came back negative, which rules out Coeliac (or Celiac). I have a high potassium level (only 0.2 more than the highest average) and a slightly low Lymphocyte count (0.1 lower than the average). But they all came back negative and the doctor seems to think I have IBS, but I beg to differ.. can anyone help me here? Thank you - a quick response would be appreciated.

Thank you both, i think for now i shall wait to see my doctor, but once again thank you both for your support and trying to help. I wont elimate any foods as such for now, it may make any tests different and the results may be inconclusive. But thanks again and I will keep everything you have both said in mind :D,

Thank you, the main things that concern me are the fact that im getting weird symptoms that don't add up with IBS. I get reoccuring mouth ulcers (Aphthous Ulcers), My pain is constant but not severe and is very annoying and isn't really relieved by anything.. I think I might be suffering from anal fissures too which are extremely painful when passing bowel movements, but are itchy when not and when i go to scratch it just irritates them more and they become sore again.

And as you said the symptoms of all three crossover with many symptoms being linked to all 3 bloody diseases! It's a pain, but im seeing my doc again on 27th, so hopefully she can shed some light on the matter.

No I have not had a Colonoscopy, the doctor believes I don't need one.

Should I have one next time I see her, or ask her for one?

I think, if I were you I would ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist. Your GP may be good, she may not but at the end
of the day you need to see a specialist because they specialise in this area, GP's generally have limited knowledge in any medical area and tend to rely on blood tests only which can be a good indicator, but not always.

I would go with vixen's suggestion; ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist. They'll order all the relevant tests, such as a colonoscopy. Just one thing to note about a colonoscopy: it can only go as far as the terminal ileum (the last part of the small intestine which connects to the colon). Most Crohn's cases are located in the terminal ileum and colon, but if you just happen to have Crohn's located higher than that in the small bowel, then a colonoscopy won't reach that far. That's why I mentioned having an upper GI test as well.

I agree with the others; you need a definite diagnosis, even if it turns out to "only" be IBS. Keep an open mind, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was something else though. Good luck (again) :p
