It is reprehensible that someone would use a forum for ill people seeking support and information to make a buck and those posts irritate me to no end but in response to the OP I do believe that GIs fail to follow the Hippocratic oath and do let people suffer needlessly in many cases. They do discourage (some actively and nastily) diet modification (works for some not for others, just like the meds they push), they don't alert patients to options like LDN (off label yes but so are many of the treatments they use. For pediatric GIs, most of the treatments are or were until very recently off label, they still used them), refuse to consider antibiotic (ie anti MAP) treatment, refuse to tell patients about treatments like fecal transplants and facilitate them by prescribing abx. Too many cling blindly to their algorithm and while that may be okay for some, it's certainly not for all and unfortunately patients suffer as a result.
