I know this is probably not crohns related but I have exhausted all other options, besides calling my GP. For the past two months every time I shave my legs I get the worst razor burn. My entire leg gets red pimply bumps that then have a tendency to scab over. I have tried everything from chaining my razor, lotions, and frequency. I don't know what it could be or what it is. I wear a lot of skirts to work and am lucky that its winter and can wear tights but what do I do come spring? Has anyone ever had this problem and do you think I should just wait it out or should I call my GP?

I have not had that problem, and it sounds like your topmost epithelial layer/hair follicles are exceptionally sensitive. I would go ahead and call your doctor, or maybe try some cortisone cream? Also, have you tried an electric razor? I think the only time I get a similar sensation is if I dry shave with just lotion.

I use extra virgine olive oil as a moisturizer...no joke! I have sensitive skin and it's the only thing that actually works, it's an antibacterial, antifungal and antiinflammatory and that's why it's so good for the skin, hair and nails. I moisturize with it right out of the shower after I dry off.

Gosh, this happens to me all the time too! We Crohnies just don't heal well especially on all our meds. One thing I have noticed that works is more time in between shaving and do it in the morning...that way just walking around and having circulation going helps. If I do it before I go to bed at night...reeeally bad bumps..almost run a fever. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem and I've read that the olive oil can help!
Worth a try for sure.

Respond with any updates if something worked or not- I'm so tired of pimply legs, haha.

Have you tried waxing as an alternative to shaving?

Sorry I am a guy but I had to read the thread.

Dreamer what meds are you on?  It could be a side effect from a med.  Right now I am on Humira and have really bad eczama from it.  One of your meds can be causing dry skin hence the irritability.  Also, it might not hurt to see a dermatologist to get their advice.

I get really cheap hair conditioner and use it as a shaving cream. My skin is pretty dry but the conditioner helps not strip all the moisture out of my legs when I shave. Since switching to conditioner instead of soap or shaving cream, I don't get razorburn.

Good luck. I can imagine how irritating that may be.

I have the WORST razor burn, omg. I actually started doing Slumber Parties for some extra income and one of the products is a rash-free shave cream. I don't mean to make this sound like I'm here to promote any one product, but I swear by it now. That and upgrading to a 5-blade razor instead of 3 or 4 blades.
