Yeah, I've heard that the 5_ASAs like Pentasa and Asacol make tinnitus worse. I take Pentasa and get tinnitus occasionally, but it only lasts sporadically for a few minutes at a time, so I just live with it.

Well, you can try it and see if it affects your tinnutus. All of the medications have risks and potential side effects, and the Pred can only be temporary to get the inflammation and ulcers under control. Not taking some sort of maintenance medication is risky too. So I don't know what to tell you. The Pentasa has seemed helpful for me, but we are all different. They tried the 6MP (immunosuppressives) with me, but I had elevated liver enzymes so I can't continue on them. My disease is back under control, but if I flare again, we will probably go to the biologics. Pentasa is safer than most of the meds, so I plan to stay on it for as long as it can last.

I take Apriso because it is meant to help you maintain remission if you have crohn's in the last smart of small bowel(ileum) & colon. That's where a lot of my disease is at. There's NO drug interaction between prednisone & Apriso. I know A LOT of Crohnie's on both & I doubt your GI would prescribe both meds if their was a known interaction. The Apriso won't help the inflammation much right now. That's the Preds job. The Apriso is used to KEEP you in remission once you get there.

I think Apriso is more for people with a lot of colon involvement so I'd reccomend another 5 ASA but your GI probably knows best. I'm a musician as wel & haven't had much of an issue with these drugs other than my regular arthritis pain from the Crohn's, nothing really affects my playing. BUT as you can see, others here have issues with their tinnitus.
