I'm not sure that Pentasa is causing your C. Try either using Miralax or Metamucil pills and colace for the C. Apriso and Pentasa are basically the same medicine, except that Apriso releases the medicine in your colon and Pentasa releases it in your small intestine, so if your Crohn's is in your ileum, the Pentasa should be better. The flagyl and Pred may have helped to heal the ulcers, and the Pentasa, which is an anti-inflammatory medicine may help prevent another flare. I agree with Kazbern, that most docs will keep you on Pentasa indefinitely as long as it is working for you. When I was first diagnosed, I wasn't having any abdominal symptoms....I was very anemic, and then with a Pill Cam test, they discovered bleeding ulcers and Crohn's in my ileum. Crohn's is a disease that flares and goes into remission, sometimes on it's own, but the meds are meant to help prevent flares and/or treat them when the Crohn's is active. Go the the ccfa.org website, and you can read more about all of the medications. I hope this helps and you get to feeling better soon.
