I've had a similar problem. Had a fistulectomy last year, but it was a General surgeon and he just opened them up. One was pretty simple and was just a straight tract, the other was twisted and he did what he could but didn't think he cleaned all of it out. Afterwards he told me that he didn't think the straight one would come back, but wasn't sure about the other. They both came back, and were more painful than before the first surgery and were constantly active. I got referred to a C-R surgeon (took a whole year), and recently had surgery again, this time with drainage setons. There was also a third abscess in my colon that didn't have an external opening. I'm only 4 weeks post-op, so setons haven't come out yet.
