Looking for new GI in NC/VA area? Will travel to get answers if GI is good. Live in Greensboro NC.

A friend recommended me to Dr. Hanson at Charlotte Gastro in Charlotte, NC on Randolph Road. She said she loves him, and he personally returns her phone calls if she has any issues. She said he doesn't just want his patients to feel ok, he wants them to feel great. He sounds fantastic...but he's not on my list of approved physicians, so my costs would be out of pocket which isn't possible at this time.

I live in Charlotte and see Dr Robert Yavorski.  He has been rated as a topp 100 doctors in NC by his peers (NC Business magazine)  He calls me directly, and he follows up on how I am feeling.  Also, he sent me to UNC Hospital where they run a Gastro clinic.  I saw Dr. Scott Plevy.  He was great and helped confirm some of what was going on.  He then works with Dr Yavorski on my treatment plans, sort of like a consult.  I have been pleased.  I was with the other group mentioned in this stream, and while I liked my Dr, he really did not listen to me.  He was going by the book and just could not believe the issues i was having.  Meanwhile, I lost 20 lbs in 2 months.  Dr Yavorski has gotten me back on track.  I hope this helps.  BTW, I have had crohn's for 15+ years and have had resection surgery to remove my ielium and have been on remicade, cimzia, metho.  right now I am not on anything....Dr was in agreement with this approach for me, eventhough it is not what the BOOK states.  This is why I like Dr Yavorski so much.  he is listening to me.

Thank you all for your posts. I also heard UNC Hospital was good. Do you know if I can just call for an appt with the gastro clinic? Somebody told me to just go to their ER. My Gastro at Duke was due back from vacation today. I have left several messages and have still not heard back. I am able to eat stuff like toast and soup now but it does upset my stomach, hurts still. Thank you.
