First let me thank you all for the work you are doing here.  Many of you know more than most doctors...it is appreciated.  I am very depressed...Have tested several times for high ASCA antibodies...and my doctor thinks its crohns.  Have some proctitis...once or twice a year a get some abdominal pain...and periodically diarrhea.   Everyone with crohns seems so much sicker that its hard to beleive I have it.  I used to get lots of canker sores as a kid and a few years had high Graves antibodies that resolved...had some nightsweats and diarrhea when that was going on.  I am terrified of crohns disease...I dont think I would have the fortitude that you all have in dealing with it.  My doctor is doing the capsule test and endoscopy.  Recent colonoscopy found nothing but no biopsies were taken.  Doctor is acting like I have crohns for sure.....I have not eaten obvious gluten in years...but I have not been super strict about avoiding it.  Wondering if gluten or something else could be kicking up those ASCA antibodies....an thoughts appreciated...god bless you all!

I don't know much about ASCA antibodies, so I can't help you there. It is very hard to be undiagnosed and to be left anxious about what is wrong. Try to take things one step at a time. The pill cam and endoscopy may give you some definitive results. There is also a blood test from Prometheus labs that can predict Crohn's, but it's not 100% accurate, but adds as one piece of the puzzle. If you do indeed have Crohn's, please don't freak out. There are many people who have mild cases, and it doesn't progress beyond that. The people who post here are often sicker than the general Crohn's population. There are many treatment options, and most of us are able to live relatively normal lives with periods of illness/flares. Good luck with your tests, and let us know how things turn out.

Thanks so much for your reply....I very much appreciate your kindness...just very depressed right now....I do everything possible to remain healthy...so its sad to be facing this.  Who gets diagnosed at 50?? I thought this was a younger persons thing...I wonder if I have had it for years thanks again

You'll hopefully know more after more tests are done...but crohn's can vary from person to person and flare to flare as well so if you do have it, you may be a milder case, still sucks to have it and if that's the case I hope you stay mild and find remission easy.

Hi there, i was DX at 49 (last year) and found remission easliy enough,perhaps you will too,it's pretty daunting to take it all in but try to remain positive and good luck with the tests,let us know how it all goes,Slainte
