fistula, fibrin glue

so i had fibrin glue injected into fistula, it has not worked, now have a very sensitive and hurting and draining fistula, does anyone have any info on how bad a discision that was to get the fibrin glue, my surgeon says there is no way to get it out of there. will it absorb or constantly be a new issue on top of the one i already had, i am so regretting getting this done!!!

So sorry to hear that the glue did not worked.

I have one fistula now and still awaiting for my doc to tell me which procedure she will be doing to heal my fistula.

I was actually contemplating on the glue but now hearing that it didnt worked for you and somehow worsen your condition, I'm scared!

What other methods did your surgeon suggested to you to fix this?

well i was so optamistic about the glue i didn;t do a whole lot of research on it, but since i had it i have found that some say the glue does not work for people with crohns, but if u dont have CD its worth a try, and so from what i have found, seton placement is not a cure but a way to manage it. i am really praying and hoping my situation will get better its so painful, i would do seton placement again, i had that a few yrs ago. but also the surgeon who put my glue in is not a colorectal surgeon, i think he is a general surgeon, so i really need a specialist, i live 5 hrs from a big city to do that tho!

i had a fistulotomy procedure done by a general surgeon. i went with him instead of a colorectal surgeon because i was desperate. after being diagnosed with fistula, i couldn't sleep and had extreme anxiety. i was waiting for a second opinion from the colo surgeon but her next available appt was too far out. i couldn't wait anymore and the general surgeon was able to do the surgery right away. my health was deteriorated from worrying and anxiety i decided to go for it. so far so good, my wound is almost completely healed. it's been 4.5 weeks and there is absolutely no drainage at the wound site. i was fortunate enough that fistulas (yes, two) was low and didn't cut through too much of the muscle for him to perform fistulotomy. if it was higher up, i would have to resort to the glue or the plug.

Hmm, why don't you get other procedure to close the fistula? Maybe the 'skin flap' procedure? ;s

Or fistulotomy like what Alex1830 posted, I'm really hoping I can get mine healed like his.

So right are you on any medications for your fistula or just letting nature take its course?

Do you have any scars from this surgery? How does this procedure works?

Cutting muscle? Omg, I'm about to faint after reading this. :(

My fistula just flare up yesterday and was bleeding profusely and it hurts to sit so bad ;(

I think the infection got worse and made my fistula worsen because I'm waiting like forever to see the doc.
