Crazy week. Stem Cell Transplant ahead!

Long post ahead. I hope you don't mind. Two weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital to have an abscess drained. After they let me out of the hospital I went into a severe flare and last Monday I found myself in the hospital again. I just got out yesterday after they had me on Solumederol for a few days before transitioning to prednisone yesterday which I am currently on at 40 MG. Last night once I got out of the hospital I had a huge set back once again. I started going to the bathroom like crazy and actually blacked out on my way to the bathroom and had an accident. I was ready to call my surgeon and tell him it's time to get my colon removed. I was on the phone with my doctor about to call it when all of the sudden my father called me. He found a research study in Pittsburgh about Stem Cell Transplant for Crohn's Disease. They're still not sure if I have Crohn's or not but because of the fistulas I'm willing to say it is Crohn's. Currently I'm going through the admissions process for it. This could have not come at a better time for me. I'm so thankful that the doctor is willing to do it. I will keep you all updated about what's going on with it. It's a three month long process and fairly tedious but honestly I want to save my colon so bad. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Colitis once again. I still have to change it in my signature. I will keep you all updated and let you know what happens.

Hey Bosnianboy. I hope this works for you. I read your post on the UC forum last night and looked like you had made your mind up to have surgery. Pretty big reversal from one phone call. I hope this can save your colon. I'll be praying for you and everybody else in this study for that matter. Please keep us posted on it; I think stem cell drugs/transplants hold a lot of promise and I hope this one helps.

PS I just looked at your Facebok page and that's a freaking awesome picture of you guys looking at the skyline on your FB page!
