can REMICADE cause ACNE?

OK, first of all, I have rarely had any skin problems in my life (even as a teenager). I noticed within the last year acne on my shoulders, back and now forehead and its getting worse. I have cut out all possibilities in the form of supplements and the only thing left is the Remicade or the even the Crohn's? anyone else have acne problems out of the norm?

I did the same thing when I started the remicade.My nurse told me it would make anything like that worse.Because your immune system is suppressed it can't fight the acne or viruses,flu.colds,etc. You will probably have those worse than most people because your immune system isn't working to resist them.Hope this helps

I personally thnk it is the steroids. His skin was really so bad but I assumed(wrongly) that once off the steroids it would go away, only it didn't! It was only when we had an appointment with an endocrinologist (re his height/maturing etc) that we saw either a student/final year, or just qualified Dr who mentioned his acne and said we should get treatment for it.

So off we trotted to his GP where they tried numerous things like different type of anti biotics(x2) a benzoyl peroxide lotion(which bleached the bedding/towels etc but had no affect on his skin) ,zineryt another topical lotion and finally retin-A, nothing was having any affect and so he was referred to a dermatologist only we had 3 month wait for appointment.
Not wanting to leave it unchecked for that long I searched for alternatives.

I asked on another IBD forum and someone mentioned Nature's Sunshine products for acne, couldn't find that here(UK) but health Food shop recc Blue Flag Compound(tablets) I couldn't find any on line reviews on it but thought it was worth a shot at just under £10. Within a week his face looked less red/angry and by the time the derm appt came around his skin was clear-seriously! I guess the only 'downside' is he still takes them now so it wasn't a 'cure' so to speak, although must add that initially I think the dose was around 6 tablets per day and then he began lowering the dose(once skin clear) but if he goes lower than 1 a day(or he runs out because he forgot to tell me to get some more) then his skin does start to get angry again.
We did keep the appointment with the dematologist(didn't want to cancel just in case) and told him what we had used and his tone was so disbelieving lol but he 'signed him off' as now not needing further medical treatment.

I don't know if/how well it may work for you but I would certainly try one lot.If you don't see any improvement by the end of that lot I would say you maybe need to consider something else(based on the fact that we saw week on week improvement after the first week)

Good luck with it though, son said acne was far worse to deal with than the crohn's, I think that was because it was so visible.
