Remicade Side effects

I was on Remicade for two years with great results between 2006 and 2008. Due to bad rectal pain and a for a active  fistulae my GI ordered Remicade once again without testing the Remicade anti-bodies. First one week I was ok. But after one week of second term first infusion, I had strange body joints pain put me in hospital for 3 days.

My GI saying that this could be because I have developped anti-bodies after my first Remicade in 2006 period. Now he said I should stop Remicade and consider Humira.

I had a second openion. The new doctor is says. Remicade or Humira will give great results if taken in combination with Immun suppress drugs like 6MP.

Does any one have experience help me for next treatment? Thank you

First, taking Remicade, then stopping it, then re-starting it has been shown to increase the odds of developing antibodies.

There are blood tests available to check whether or not you have developed these antibodies. Ask your doctor about doing that.

Taking imuran or 6MP along with Remicade has been shown to decrease the likelihood of developing antibodies to the Remicade. But you would have needed to start the imuran/6MP already. If you indeed already have developed antibodies to the Remicade, then it's too late to add in imuran/6MP with Remicade, but adding in imuran/6MP and switching to Humira would make sense.

Doctors generally start them at the same time. I would guess within a few days before or after wouldn't matter much.

My GI suggested me 100mg Imuron for me . I weigh 135 pounds. Is this sound high dose?

Actually, that sounds a little low, but a reasonable place to start. Dosing, in mg, is typically close to your weight, in pounds. At 135 pounds you would likely be on 125mg to 150mg for best effectiveness.

I agree with this post I have found the same info .. and this info is also in the remicade pamphlets
