just stumbled on this post. I certainly wouldn't let that stop you from having a family. My son was diagnosed with Chrons at age 13, now 14 and neither my spouse or I have it. I have a sister however who was diagnosed in her 40's. So, I said all that to say, we don't know who will, and who will not develop Chrons. My other two children have no sign of CD. What an ignorant statement that nurse made to you. I enjoy my son immensely and can't imagine not having him around. CD does not define him, and so far, he is responding very well to treatment.
Also, as you've noticed from the post, I think a cure, or at least a more bullet proof med is in the near horizon.
