I  have had Crohns for 14 years and recently been experiencing what I think is joint pain or arthiritis.  It seems to be a different body part everyday.  The first day it was my finger, next day it was my left knee, then my right knee.  I woke up today with some pretty bad pain in my shoulder.  I am suppose to take my humira shot tonight and hoping it takes care of it.  Does anyone have the joint pain/arthritis pain and how do you deal with it?

I think you should talk to your DR about this pain.  about 25% of people with IBD have joint pain with their disease, but the Humira should theoretically be controlling this for you.  Perhaps you need to change your dose or the schedule of the Humira.

I don't use biologics.  I use mesalamines to manage my IBD, but I added sulfazine to my pillbox a few years ago to help with the joint pain.  It works well for me.

I was on remicade when the arthritis really started... 1 joint at a time lasting usually 3 days in a spot or 2 and then it'd move to another area. So i went onto humira and it was working but then it stop working after about a year so I stopped it but CD got worse... so I did both Methotrexate AND humira did wonders I went from hardle able to use stairs (let along open a bottle) to runing and dancing every day. Then stop MTX to try and have a baby RA flared with in 5 weeks so I gave up and went back on mtx with humira. Now neither is working... recently stopped humira and now looking for a new med for RA.

I hope  yours stays at bay especially with humira but if it's to much to handle... try and deal with asap before it gets worse.

I read 30% of crohn's patient will get RA (it's just another way for our body to attack us)

I have enteropathic arthritis which is from CD! (Personally I believe a lot of us CD patient are being wrongly diagnosed for arthritis)

Thank you for the responses. I talked to my doctor and he is going to set me up an appointment with a Rheumatologist. I was hoping my shot of humira would work but unfortunately it hasn't helped. I hope they can figure out something soon, because I wake up everyday with a different pain!

A rheumatologist is a good idea. It was my rheumatologist, working with my GI, who finally got me the right treatment for both my gut and my joints.

yes when you get a chance speak with your GI and see about Remicade. i have in recent years had extreme pain in my knees and also the balls of my feet. this happens more when i am towards the end of my remicade infusion but goes away when i am re-infused. unlike you i had these issues post remicade but i would imagine i would be like you had i not been getting my infusions.

My GI called and has set me up an appointment with the Rheumatologist.  Thanks for all the responses!  It nice to know that people have the same problems, for awhile there I thought I was loosing my mind confused !

I actually called my GI's office at lunch today and spoke to the nurse about "how i was doing" like they wanted and one of the things that is bothering me the most is the pains all over.
