I been having a hard time with doctors lately. My GI of 17 years would not believe my symptoms for all of 2011. My GI was the one 17 years ago that said I had ulcerative colitis and still does not want to admit she is wrong. My surgeon on the other hand say's it's Crohns's and my GI is to pig headed to admit she was/is wrong. My colon was removed when I was 14 and I had the bag on for 6 months than got it off but had problems, so I had to get the bag back on in 2007. I had to have surgery May 11th of this year because, I had to much inflamation that spread to all of my small bowel witch is all I have left. This could of all been avoided my surgeon said if my GI would of listen to me instead of denied my symptom's. I had a 8 hour surgery where I got 18 units of blood, had a new stoma but in, intestine's removed, she spit apart my small bowel that was attached to my uterus and some other thing's were done. After I was sent to the ICU and the anesthesiologist and ICU nurses came out and told my family I was not going to make it and to say their goodbyes while they waited for my surgeon to come back. After they took me back into surgery and cut me back open my surgeon came out and told my family nothing was wrong and she only found a small blood clot and the ICU nurse's and anesthesiologist were over reacting. While I was in the hospital the anesthesiologist came in to say how close I came to not making it and how disapointed he is that my surgeon was down playing what happen to me. I also talked to him about being paralyed betweeen surgery and how I was able to hear what they were saying but I could not move. I was so worried they were going to cut me back open while I could hear and feel eveything, but thankfully they knocked me back out. After all this I asked for my surgeon's medical notes and she wrote I had 4 massive blood clot's, I was bleeding and she gave me 2 more unit's of blood and redid the surgery. I don't know why she lied to my family and said nothing was wrong or done besides the removal of the small blood clot. Now I am confused and do not know who to believe or trust anymore, because the anesthesiologist/ICU nurses and my surgeon can't agree and blame eachother. SO if anyone know's of any GI or surgeon's around ST. Paul area please let me know.
Thank you!!
