Crohn's is ruining my life

Really sorry to hear you getting mucked around (tortured) like that.
They should at least put you on TPN for a while or start you on a liquid diet (Ensure or similar) since the meds are not agreeing with you.
I don't know where your Crohns is but the vomiting and blood sound like a possible obstruction or kinked bowel. But there are other possibilities.
Acid lowering drugs often relieve the vomiting, and anti nausea meds can help too (Zofran.) Have they given pain relief?
Can't help with recommending a doctor, but hoping you get a break there.

I'm so sorry you are having such an awful experience. Have you had a resection yet? Sounds like you are ready to - there's only so much meds can do. What does your GI say about surgery?

I'm 31 and feel your pain. I have been on multiple crohns meds and have had 2 resections in the last year. I just had a resection 9 weeks ago. I have been hopeless and tired and kept going for my husband and 3 small kids. If I were u I would find a new dr ASAP. I went online to find the best GI dr in my area. My previous dr would only treat me with prednisone and within months my new dr tried new meds, then referred me for surgery. I was so sick and worn out, so surgery was the best thing I did. Of course u want to not jump to surgery, but it meant I wasn't sleeping my life away n visiting the ER all the time.

I wish I could help u find a new dr, but know I'm thinking of u. Getting a new dr seemed so overwhelming but he is helping me live to raise my kids. I'm still very I'll n feel like food is my enemy, but my dr continues to find a way to improve my health. Hang in there and get a new dr.

I'm in Denver and I was in the same spot. I go to the ER when the pain is so bad that I can't take it anymore. My dr won't give me pain meds because he feels that if I'm in pain he will fix the problem. I'm continuing to suffer n he sees me frequently n wants me to feel better. He encourages me to call him instead of suffering. I still hate this disease but now I take things one day at a time. I hope to live a long life n if I'm meant to be healthy I know my dr will get me there. Before my surgery 9 weeks ago I felt good one day a week; now I have 4-5 good days a week. Still not 100% but I will take it. Hang in there n if the pain is too bad, go to the ER. One of my problems is I wait too long to go cuz I think ER drs r impatient. Now I go in n tell the ER that I have crohns n my only goal is to get out of pain n rehydrated. U r your only advocate so fight for yourself! U deserve some relief.

lower right pain was the same i had which was that my illuium (sp) was basically completley blocked i had terrible pain,nausea,sweats and was in a terrible state.I had right hemicolectomy with temporary illeostomy and it changed my life.My recovery was long because i was so weak from not eating coz of the pain i weighed 48kgs when i went for my surgery and i was 20 yrs old. its been 5 yrs and im currently in a bad flare atm.but surgery was totally worth it i mean i would whip out the piece which is causing me pain atm if they would let me lol, I think you need to demand to be treated.Have they tried imunosupresants like azathioprine and that older one...cant member the name.Have they tried prednisone to hlp control the inflamation? or are you allergic to it aka why you were on endocort.i also found that going to the ER may put in contact with another GI, or is he the only local one? and i assume you've had a colonoscopy/mri also have you ask to refered to gastro surgeon unless your gi is a surgeon? sorry for the long winded post but you dont need to suffer,its a long road and it is a fight but your gi sounds like a idiot.

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through.  You are in my prayers.  Like you I was hospitalized six times within a year, cannot even count the number of ER visits and three ambulance pick ups at my house.  I was in constant pain and throwing up green bowel (which is very dangerous always go to the doctor if your vomit is green). The doctors knew I kept having partial blockages but no one would touch my surgery.  They said it was too dangerous.  I was finally referred to Georgia Colon & Rectal.  I don't know how far you are willing to travel but they specialize in intestinal surgery.  I do not usually like to give doctor referrals as doctors are like a pair of shoes what fits one may not fit another. One more thing that I just recently found out.  The doctors will tell you this is not a cure, but I had it in my head that surgery would stop everything and I would have my body back. Unfortunately the doctors were right.  But I do not regret having the surgery.  I have not been hospitalized in seven months.  I no longer throw up my bowel and the pain is no where near as bad as it used to be.  I had my surgery four months after the birth of my first grandchild. I am able to sit in the floor and play with her and get to be the grandmother I always wanted to be. I am new to all this and am just now learning to live a life with Crohn's Disease.  This website has been a great help to me. I found the seasoned Chronie's to be pleasant, informative and full of support.

I would definitely go to Vandy.  What do you have to lose?  I live about an hour north of there.  I really like my GI in town but if I'm ever to the point where he doesn't know what to do anymore that is where I would head.  If they have success getting you under control, then you could go back to your gi in town. 

I'm in Memphis and have a wonderful GI who is really into Crohn's. I've had Crohn's now for 40 yrs. many operations and meds. And my present Dr. is the best i've had.  Which end of the state are you located?

I lived in Knoxville for a while.  I used Dr. Gene Overholt, but for only a short time as I moved back to Memphis not long after I met him.  

I'm not sure if he's still in practice, but I would check him out.  He's a sharp Dr. with alot of experience under his belt.  Good Luck with your search and hope you feel better soon.
