Anyone on Entocort??

I saw my doctor today and was prescribed 9 mm a day of Entocort for three months. He says after three months I should stop it, and see how I do on no meds.

Anyone have any experience with this med? Nervous about side effects or getting sick as I'm a teacher and back to work in a few days.

I took it last year, at least I remember that name, but I forget the dosage. I tried Azathioprine now that stuff is nasty, after two weeks it was real painful (like pancreatitis). I was warned about that and stopped immediately.

Entocort made me a tad aggressive Since I realized it I just relaxed and had a laid back attitude. I was on it longer than the 3 months though. Anyhow here is a site I Googled up

I have been on Remicade since the Entocourt, Memory loss is my side effect from the Remicade.

The Entocort should be easy. I would not sweat over it. Talk to your Dr. he/she will clue you in from your history you have given to them.

I was on enticer for over one year. For me there were virtually no side effects. Out was way better than prednasone. However I hope you have good insurance as it is very expensive. If you do not buy from Canada. It is one tenth the cost

I'm a teacher, too and have been on Entocort 6mg for almost 9 months now. My GI told me that people can stay on it for years. It has been a life saver after I kept suffering from pred and its side effects (moon face and hypertension) for one year and a half. Entocort put my symptoms under control (keep your fingers crossed) and so was methotrexate withdrawn. It does not cause any weight gain as far as my case is concerned.

Im on Entocort. It is great. Extra energy. I do eat like a horse some days though. have gained weight from it but could be managable. i just know when i come off it i may flare so im not to worried about the weight gain because i will lose it all again.

im on it for 12 weeks (9mg) and then ween. The Imuran is supposed to maintain it.... but it didnt that last time...

Hi Crohn's sucks...I have been on Entocort for a month and a week with barely no side effects...I have noticed red lines or spots sporadically all over my body but they are there one minute and gone the next...really weird...I think it is whats giving me heartburn too but for the most part I have found it ok to deal with. Like others say, it is pricey. With my insurance at a Walmart pharmacy it was $700.00 for a month supply. Needless to say I will never get it filled so my dr had samples and gave me 2 months worth.

I am on Entocort and will be long-term.  I started it in February.  My Gastroenterologist said one of the most common mistakes doctors make with it is stopping it too soon.  She said it take long-term dosing to get the best effect.  She likened it to a cholesterol medication.  If you take for 3 months the cholesterol level will be lower than when you started it, but as soon as you stop it goes right back up.  With Entocort, the inflammation will go down after 3 months but may come back as soon as you stop it.
