I also have been on Remicade for 3 years, I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 5th grade when, after keeping it a secret for almost a month, I told my mom I couldn't sit correctly on my butt. Turns out I had a fistula and i had been actively fighting Crohn's for almost a year and a half. I had all the text book symptoms, joint pain and swelling, inablility to absorb nutrition, stomach cramps, bloody poo, and all that jazz. On August 11, 2010 I had a colonoscopy and an endonoscopy and had the fistula drained. I was diagnosed with Crohn's and was put on about 12 different medicines including 3 kinds of steroids that I forgot the names of. Then in November I was put on Remicade and instantly, I gained about 1/4 of my body weight (I was 10, 5ft tall, and 85 lbs) in fat. And ever since it seems every year i gain another 15 lbs. I am only 13 and I weigh 170 at 5'3". This past spring my mother and I started an intense cardio workout at our local gym. Weight lifting, >40 min on a stair stepper, an hour on an eliptical, etc. And I did this while only eating about 1,250 calories a day and only lost about 4 lbs. FOUR POUNDS!!!!!!!! So I definitely feel your pain, physically and metaphorically. Literally, once i had a flare that lasted almost 2 weeks and lost 10 lbs, had all the bloody diarrhea, vomiting, ulcers, the lot. DX>
